Questions to ask when renting a moonwalk

Where are you located, do you deliver to my city?

This should be the first question you ask because you don't want to waste your time asking questions about a product when the company doesn't even service your area. A good way to find a local company is by searching the moonwalk rental directory to find local providers. You should always ask the company if they deliver for free or if there is an additional charge for delivery. Delivering these inflatables is a hard and heavy task, so leaving it to trained professionals to deliver it to your location is always the best option.

How many years have you been in the business?

This will tell you if the company has years of experience and has learned through trial and error or if they are new in the industry. New companies generally will have lower prices because they want to entice customers to use their services, whereas more experienced companies will usually provide the better experience.

Do you have insurance?

Renting from a company that has insurance coverage provides a sense of security by knowing if an incident was to occur where someone might get injured, then the company's insurance would at least cover for medical expenses and damage. You never want to be stuck in a situation where an injury or damage occurs and there's no source of recourse. Sometimes companies with insurance might be more expensive, but the reassurance is worth the price.

Do you require a deposit?

Deposits are usually not required by companies in most areas, however some areas in the U.S. require a deposit for reservations. Make sure to know what the company's policy is regarding cancelations, whether it is for personal reasons or bad weather, and rescheduling.

Do you provide attendants?

Some companies provide attendants for free and some provide it for an additional fee. Providing attendants goes to show that the company cares about the safety of the people using the inflatables.

Which type of moonwalk would be best for your party?

There are hundreds of different sizes and styles of moonwalks that offer a variety of games and challenges. You need to consider what type of event you are having. Is it a birthday party, carnival, sports event, graduation party, Halloween party, Easter party, company party, or just a get together? The age group also makes a difference on which moonwalk to choose.

Safety during your party

Safety is the top concern when using inflatables and moonwalks at your party or event. Since inflatables are considered rides and attractions, it is very important to know the safety risks involved from using them. As a customer, you should always ask the company what potential safety risks are involved with each inflatable or moonwalk you reserve, and what procedures you can take to alleviate them. You should make sure the company's delivery personnel show you the correct method of using the inflatable after setup is complete.

Make sure there is a responsible adult supervising the inflatable at all times. Children should not be allowed to use the inflatable without anyone supervising them. The safety of the people using the inflatable rests on the person supervising, therefore, that person must be responsible and educated on the correct usage as well as potential safety risks. Children or participants should not be allowed to do any activity specifically prohibited on the safety rules or stated in the terms and agreements.

Some common safety rules include, but are not limited to:

• Removal of shoes and sharp objects before entering inflatable
• Riders must be of same physical size
• No food, drink or gum inside the inflatable
• The safety rules posted on the inflatable should never be broken
• No one should be allowed to move inflatable or loosen tie-downs points.
• No roughhousing flips, climbing on nets or walls, or sliding down headfirst.

Emergency procedures

There are a couple of emergency situations to be aware of and to be prepared for just in case anything should happen with the inflatable or should the weather change. The inflatable may lose power, or start deflating, because of electricity shortages, blower malfunction, or a puncture in the inflatable. Should any of these situations arise the most important thing to know is that you must not panic. The person supervising should direct participants out of the inflatable as soon as possible without trampling over each other. If any of these situations arise the best thing to do is call the rental company and get them involved, it is never advised to have the customer tampering with the product in an attempt to fix the problem.

Other situations to be wary of are inclement weathers such as high winds, rain or sudden thunderstorms. If during the course of your party such inclement weather should suddenly arise, everyone should immediately evacuate the inflatable and stop using it. The inflatable should be turned off and the rental company should immediately be contacted to pick up the product. It is never safe to use the inflatable in winds exceeding 20mph, during rain or thunderstorms.
